JICPA Online Seminar "The Latest Trends of the IAASB - Focusing on Assurance of Sustainability Reporting"
The Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (JICPA) welcomed Mr. Tom Seidenstein, Chair of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB), on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, as a guest speaker of the JICPA Online Seminar "The Latest Trends in IAASB: Focusing on Assurance for Sustainability Reporting."
The seminar was attended by approximately 300 people including members of the JICPA, businesspeople, investors, and analysts, as well as academics.
The following is an overview of this seminar.
IAASB Latest Developments
（IAASB Latest Developments： Tom Seidenstein, Chair of the IAASB）Under the title "IAASB Latest Developments," the IAASB Chair, Mr. Seidenstein gave a presentation on the IAASB's role as an international standard-setting body and an overview of major ongoing projects such as assurance on sustainability reporting, fraud, and going concern. Regarding assurance on sustainability reporting, Mr. Seidenstein mentioned that the project is moving at an extremely fast pace to develop a new assurance standard that covers all sustainability topics, and that an exposure draft of the International Standard on Sustainability Assurance is expected to be approved by the IAASB in June 2023.
