IFAC officers visit JICPA

April 24,2009

Mr. Robert L. Bunting, President of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Mr. Goran Tidstrom, Deputy President of IFAC, and Mr. Ian Ball, Chief Executive Officer of IFAC made a courtesy call on JICPA on March 25, 2009. IFAC officers exchanged views with JICPA executives including Mr. Masuda, Chairman and President of JICPA, on recent activities of IFAC and role of JICPA in IFAC.

Amendment of Auditing and Assurance Practice Committee Statement No. 82 "Practical Guidance for Audits of Internal Control over Financial Reporting"

The Auditing and Assurance Practice Committee announced, on March 23, 2009, the amendment of Auditing and Assurance Practice Committee Statement No. 82 "Practical Guidance for Audits of Internal Control over Financial Reporting". The Auditing and Assurance Practice Committee considered mainly matters related to judgment of material weakness, using work of internal auditors and audit treatment when management cannot complete the procedures involved in assessments of internal control. 
JICPA issued the amendment of the Statement after the consideration of comments received from the exposure draft.

Sir David Tweedie, Chairman of the IASB, visits JICPA

April 24,2009

Sir David Tweedie, Chairman of the International Accounting Standard Board (IASB), visited JICPA on March 9, 2009. Sir David exchanged views with JICPA executives including Mr. Masuda, Chairman and President of JICPA, on recent economic crisis and current discussion concerning possible implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards in Japan.

JICPA responds to the Consultation Paper of IPSASB

On March 31, 2009, the JICPA submitted comments on the Consultation Paper " Conceptual Framework for General Purpose Financial Reporting by Public Sector Entities".
